I remember when I started on the quest to burn belly fat, I began with the idea to “eat healthy.” I started by cutting out all the “junk foods.” This meant no more things like chips, cookies, etc – all the obvious things. Then I started trying to eat a more “balanced” diet. One of my favorite ways of doing this was by switching to soy products – soy milk, soy nuts for snacks, etc. I also like to create turkey sandwiches for lunch on whole grain bread – the stuff that has no enriched wheat in it. I thought ‘hey it has no enriched wheat so its healthy.’
While these sorts of things might help you eat a ‘balanced diet’ or a ‘healthy diet’ – our goal is to burn belly fat. Besides, the concept of a ‘balanced diet’ is rather arbitrary – it’s really just political nonsense more than any sort of scientific inquiry. If you study what more primal humans ate as food, they contained no wheat or soy products, and they didn’t contain very much fruit. There is a subset of health nuts who create diets based on these ideas.
Today I want to share with you an article that details three foods which are often referred to as ‘healthy’ but that you should actually avoid if you want to lose belly fat. One of those foods is wheat. The other two are corn and soy. You probably have heard or read that you should avoid high fructose corn syrup – it’s used instead of sugar in many drinks because it is incredibly cheap to produce – but what about all the other things that are made of corn? And corn itself?
Remember our goal is to burn belly fat – and this requires specific planning. You may need to stop eating certain things that you enjoy – but after you lose that belly fat, then you can return to it.
